Abuja to host Plateau-Sharks tie

By Ojeikere Aikhoje

The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) has revealed that Plateau United will play their rescheduled match against Sharks at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja.

Plateau United and neighbours, Juth, have played away from home following the crisis in Jos, but the league body has now cleared their Jos home due to improved security.

“Plateau United thought the clearance begins with the Sharks game, so they decided to remain in Jos after their match at Shagamu. However, we informed them that they will return to Jos from Saturday when they host Crown.

“The officials decided to play in Abuja since it was too late for them to travel to Enugu,” Acting Executive Secretary of the NPL, Tunji Babalola told SuperSport.com

Meanwhile, experienced defender, Ajibade Omolade, will miss the Sharks match due to suspension.

“I got a second yellow card at the Kwara United match, which explains why I won’t be available for this match. My absence will not be a problem because Akpos Eborge and Solomon Kwambe can come in to fill the position,” Omolade said.

Plateau United’s top scorer, George Akpabio, told SuperSport.com that he’s looking forward to a good match.

“I’m in fine shape and hope that we have a good game. The draw at Kwara has boosted our confidence,” Akpabio stated.

Akpabio leads the goals chart at the newly promoted club with three goals.
