Plateau United top scorer, George Akpabio, is excited that he has reached double-digit numbers in the Nigeria Premier League goals chart.
Akpabio told his personal site www.georgeakpabio.blogspot.com that he was on cloud nine after scoring his 10th NPL goal against 2008 champions, Kano Pillars.
The forward, who has scored four goals on the road, is paired on 10 goals with Enyimba's Victor Barnabas and Kwara United's Kabiru Sanusi, while top scorer,Ibrahim Ajani, is ahead with 12 goals.
"I'm so exicted because the other guys with 10 goals and the leading scorer have played in the NPL before me. They have also played for some of the top teams in previous seasons.
"This is my first season in Nigeria's top flight and I've already scored 10 goals.
"It's good to be among the top scorers because this will only make me do more. I know defenders would always want to stop me, that's why I've increased my work rate. There's a lot of work to be done to lift my team away from the drop zone and the only work I should do as a forward is to maintain my form.
"This is a sign that I've made significant improvement in front of goal this term," he said to georgeakpabio.blogspot.com.
Akpabio's performance against Kano Pillars earned him a place in the NPL team of the week. After scoring his side's first goal, Akpabio set up teammate, Stanley Dimgba, who buried the ball into the net for Plateau's second goal.
Akpabio’s 2010/2011 statistics:

Week 4: vs Zamfara United (A) - 1 goal
Week 6: vs 3SC (A) - 1 goal
