Plateau United leading scorer George Akpabio is close to a move to Norwegian club Viking.
Akpabio has blasted home 10 goals for relegation-troubled Plateau this season and he is widely regarded as the brightest star in the Jos club.
“He’s a very good and aggressive striker and even trained with the national under-20 team before the African Youth Championship,” remarked sports journalist Olushola Alao.
One of Nigeria’s most prolific goal scorers in Europe, Peter Ijeh, starred for Viking between 2006 and 2009, scoring 39 goals in 78 appearances.
Other strikers like Odion Ighalo and most recently Anthony Ujah have used the Norwegian league to move to bigger leagues in Europe.
