Plateau United top scorer George Akpabio has become a target of several European teams.
Akpabio has scored 10 goals this term and is just two goals behind the leading scorer, despite the position of his team on the Nigeria Premier League log.
SuperSport.com learnt that clubs from Austria, Norway, Serbia and Turkey have expressed interest in the forward, who is just in his first season in the Nigerian top flight.
However, Norway’s Viking Stavanger appears to be in pole position to sign the forward.
“I’m excited with the interest from Europe. It’s an indication of my performance in the NPL and I’ll continue to do well for my team.
“My ambition as a professional has always been to play abroad and I thank God for everything,” the forward told SuperSport.com.
Akpabio’s imminent exit will be good news for club boss, Bitrus Bewarang who rejected a mid-season transfer offer from rivals, Kwara United.
Founded in 1899, Viking FK is one of the most successful clubs in Norwegian football, having won eight Norwegian premier football league titles and five domestic cup titles.
