Plateau United all-time goal scorer, George Akpabio, has applauded the Jos side for making him a great player within a short time.
Akpabio, who joined top South African team, Ajax Cape Town, on Monday, told his personal site georgeakpabio.blogspot.com that he will always remember his time at the famous Jos side.
"I had a great time at Plateau United considering the fact that the club gave me my breakthrough in Nigerian football.
"The coaches and my teammates were wonderful. I went for trials and the club gave me a chance in the feeder team. After sometime, I progressed to the first team and the rest is history now.
"I'm ready to learn more at Ajax to become a better player in the future," he said to georgeakpabio.blogspot.com.
Club general manager, Bitrus Bewarang, who doubles as coach said Akpabio's transfer to Ajax Cape Town has vindicated him.
"I fought to keep Akpabio at Plateau United when other Nigerian clubs came from him. This will make the Plateau State government happy," he said to georgeakpabio.blogspot.com.
The forward was top scorer for Plateau United in the lower division and also finished as top scorer for the club in the Nigeria Premier League.
His performance attracted the attention of clubs and agents across the world.
Akpabio has since entered the history books as the first player in the Nigeria Premier League to have an online presence with his blog at georgeakpabio.blogspot.com
